ICON OF THE SEAS
Icon of the Seas is be the newest ship in Royal Caribbeans fleet and surpasses Wonder of the Seas which was the largest cruise ship in the world when launched by Royal Caribbean in 2022.
She will be sailing 7 day itineraries from Miami taking in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Both itineraries take in Royal Caribbeans private island, Coco Cay. Some of the most popular port of calls include Philipsburg (St Maarten), Charlotte Amale (St Thomas) in the Eastern Caribbean and Roatan (Honduras), Puerto Costa Maya & Cozumel (Mexico) on the Western Caribbean sailings. Other ports of call on Eastern Caribbean sailings include San Juan (Puerto Rico), Labadee (Haiti), Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) and Basseterre (St Kitts).
Royal Caribbean pride themselves with ships with "first at sea" features when they build new ships and Icon of the Seas is no different.
Icon of the Seas has 2805 staterooms and is able to accommodate up to 5610 guests (double occupancy) along with 2,359 crew. The 20 deck ship (18 for guests) has a gross tonnage of 250,800 and is 365 metres in length which now surpasses Wonder of the Seas which was the largest cruise ship in the world when launched by Royal Caribbean in 2022.
Onboard, there are over 40 bars, lounges and restaurants; 8 neighbourhoods which also includes a five all new neighbourhoods, and 7 pools including the largest pool at sea.
Aquadome contains the Aqua Theatre with ocean views as well as a 55 foot water curtain. The shows at the Aqua Theatre include divers, skateboarders and robots.
Central Park with over 30,000 plants in an open air central location on the ship surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants. There are also 4 livng plant walls which span over 5 decks.
Chill Island which contains four of the seven pools contained on Icon of the Seas. Another first for Royal Caribbean is the swim up bar called Swim & Tonic as well as Royal Bay which is the largest pool at sea. Entertainment in Chill Island includes live bands and DJ's with a new frozen cocktail bar called The Lime & Coconut.
Royal Promenade with over 15 bars, lounges and restaurants which are connected over two decks. The Royal Promendade opens up to the outdoors for the first time. The main feature is "The Pearl" which contains over 3,500 kinetic tiles.
Surfside is the new neighbourhood for young families which enables them to stay and play all day. There is Splashaway Bay for kids, Baby Bay for toddlers which is close to the new Waters Edge pool. There are all day dining options with the Surfside Eatery buffet, Surfside Bites, and Pier 7 and The Lemon Post bar serving drinks with adult and kids menus.
Suite Neighbourhood contains larger suites for guest and spans over 4 decks with the 2 deck Coastal Kitchen giving views of the Aquadome. There is a Grove Suit Sun Deck with private a pool as well as whirlpools.
The Hideaway which is an adults only area of the ship has the first suspended infinity pool at sea along with 180 degree ocean views. This new neighbourhood is 135 feet above the sea.
Thrill Island features the largest waterpark at sea with 6 record breaking slides with the first of its kind "Crowns Edge", a combined skywalk, ropes course and thrill ride for adrenaline junkies 154 feet above the water. Thrill island also contains the surf simulate "FlowRider" along with Lost Dunes mini golf course as well as plenty of places to grab snacks and drinks.
